RC8B3.1 FT Graphite Rear Shock Tower, tall
Taller tower geometry increases up-travel. Up-travel is how much further the shock can travel upwards in its stroke after the chassis has bottomed out with the ground. Increasing up-travel lets the tire absorb more impact and improves handling in bumps and high-speed cornering. After testing, Area 51 engineers found that by raising the existing shock locations by a specific amount, up-travel is optimized for both low and high axle positions. See the comparison drawing here.
